WoB for service stations

WoB stands for “Wegfahren ohne Bezahlen” (driving away without paying) and was developed by CL-Electronics to counteract gas and dash crimes. The WoB system detects customers who forget to pay after refueling.  With this technology, it is possible to put a stop to any non-paying customer.

Since the pump is only unlocked after the payment process, it often takes until the next customer arrives before it is noticed that the previous customer did not pay. The WoB now combines the video surveillance system with the checkout system. The regular refueling and payment process remains unchanged. After payment for the tank filling, the gas pump is unlocked again. If payment is not made, it remains locked. If a new customer wants to refuel at a locked pump, he or she must inform the person responsible in the store so that the pump can be unlocked.

And this is where the WoB system comes into play. By the confirmation of the sales person that the previous refueling process was not paid, the system searches all available monitoring data for the “offender”. After a short search run, the exact time of the refueling process, the unpaid invoice amount, as well as the license plate number are stored and ready to be forwarded.
