High performance on the one hand, low operating costs on the other hand, these are the requirements for modern power electronics. To meet the continuously growing needs in the market, EA Elektro-Automatik GmbH & Co. KG now presents its new bidirectional power supply EA-PSB 10000 30 kW. This new product offers even more power in the smallest footprint. Depending on the application, the possibility of power recovery also significantly reduces operating costs.
The new power supply from EA achieves 100 percent more power than the previous series in just 4 RU. Yet the device requires only a third more volume. In interconnected operation, the space-saving products can even operate a total output of up to 1.92 MW in parallel. Manufacturers of energy storage systems benefit significantly from this. Users can make settings directly on the device via the generous 5-inch touch display.
Cost reduction thanks to power recovery
With the EA-PSB 10000 30kW, more power does not mean a drastic increase in operating costs. The bidirectional power supply offers an impressive efficiency of up to 96 percent both as a source and as a sink with power recovery. The device can switch seamlessly between source and sink operating modes without any loss of time. For example, in order to charge and discharge energy storage devices at different power levels, only one device is needed. When testing motors, the energy is taken directly from the EA-PSB 10000 during the recuperation phase without any loss of time and returned to the mains.
Excellent usability due to control software
In order to fully exploit the exceptional power density of the EA-PSB 10000 30kW for a wide range of DUTs, EA offers users intuitive control software. With EA Power Control, users remotely operate up to 20 devices, control additional functions such as sequencing and take advantage of convenient data recording. Another new feature EA offers is the battery simulation software. This allows users to use the EA-PSB 10000 devices to test their hardware under almost real conditions. Keyword “HIL”, hardware in the loop.
